Bio

Designer. Born in Venice but Bologna is her adopted hometown. 

Graduated in 1980 from the Accademia di Belle Arti of Bologna.

 

After gaining experience on a few art projects, she began her professional career in communications and industrial design. In 1984, she started working as a designer for Mandarina Duck and in 1991 was made head of styling; the position entailed having the responsibility for planning and industrialization aspects for a wide range of products, from luggage to small leather goods for women and men. 

 

The experience gave her a huge opportunity to develop and hone her planning skills with a focus on innovation in shapes and on research into materials and technology, where products become concepts not just objects of beauty; objects used daily but interpreted applying creativity and with a strong emphasis on function. 

 

In addition, she learned important organizational skills through coordinating the style department and other business divisions, managing and liaising with external consultants and suppliers in relation to projects, from initial briefs right through to the finalisation of products ready for production. 

 

In 1999, her versatility and passion led her to seek out a new outlet for her style and she joined Trussardi; in 2000 she went freelance which has allowed her to collaborate with several companies such as Bulgari, Calvin Klein, Dainese, Ferragamo, Nava Design, Nike, Pirelli, Timberlan, Tumi in relation to a wide range of projects, from luxury goods through to the sports world.

 

She has lectured on a number of courses at the Polytechnic University in Milan (1989/90) and offered assistance to the faculty students in preparing their theses (1992); she has collaborated with various institutions in relation to devising and developing project methodology including the International School of Design of Bologna (1991), the Università del Progetto of Reggio Emilia (1991) and CTC (managerial training centre) in Bologna (2003).

 

Her work has been shown in several exhibitions and publications, “Regesto 70” Percorsi della ricerca artistica in Emilia Romagna 1970/1980 (CLUEB Editore Bologna, 1981); “Design Italia” (Rizzoli editore, 1990); “Dal Merletto alla Motocicletta” (Triennale di Milano - Ferrara Palazzo Massari, 2002); “D come Design” (Torino World Design Capital, 2008).
